May 2006 – CML Innovative Technologies (CML-IT) is producing its wide European range of
miniature lighting products according to the RoHS (Restriction-on-Hazardous-Substances)
directive from the European Commission. All devices are manufactured featuring the same
product specifications as before but now comply with the RoHS’ significant limitations on the
use of lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chromium.
All lamps and bulbs in CML-IT’s European product range are manufactured from lead-free
glass. Using RoHS compliant chips for the company’s range of Chip LEDs and Power LEDs
enables these devices to meet RoHS standards, too.
Being prepared for the RoHS directive has already resulted in business wins for CML-IT: only
recently the company was asked by one of its distributors to replace a competitor’s range of not
yet RoHS compliant LEDs in their product offering.
