MK20/1 proximity sensors are magnetically operated Reed Switches in a cylindrical packaged, fitted with interconnect cable. The sensor should be mounted on a fixed surface with the actuating magnet on the moving surface. Introduction or removal of the magnetic field determines the closing and opening of the Reed Switch.

 

One of a wide range of applications for this sensor is brake detection for e-bikes - also useable in many other green applications used in harsh environments such as rain, ice or dirt. The switch in the sensor is hermetically sealed and the sensor is protected by a potted epoxy - so there is no chance for any environmental influence to interrupt the signal between the sensor and the magnet.
