Avalanche Detector uses Reed Switch Technology
Winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking or mountaineering tourism pose many safety hazards, due to rough terrains and often remote or isolated conditions. The imminent threat of an avalanche is good reason to be well prepared with a guide, reliable and protective equipment; especially an avalanche detector which can save lives in emergency.
Modern avalanche detectors used for "sending" and "receiving" signals manually switch between various modes. The switch operates by using a magnet and a reed switch to change between the"Send" and "Search" function.
Ideal for this application are MEDER Reed sensors. These are hermetically sealed and therefore resistant to harsh environmental influences such as heat, rain, ice and cold. MEDER's high quality sensors can achieve over one billion cycles. Moreover, reed switches are very environmentally friendly as they consume no power and require only one permanent magnet for switching. These products are designed to the customers requirements for the magnetic sensitivity and assembly method.
