The series was developed to meet the accelerated market needs for higher performance in such applications such as car audio and navigation equipment.

Both the STX-3680 and STX-3790 series, which complies with EIA standards, are offered as a 5-pin jack, while the STX-3680 is also available in a 6-pin option. Both series are available in select PC99 color options and with a PBT thermoplastic body, UL94V-0 rated.
