IDEC Corporation is pleased to announce the latest way to expand the functionality of the IDEC SmartRelay.

The LONWORKS® communication module connects directly to the IDEC SmartRelay CPU module or expansion modules to allow access to a local operating network. It acts as a gateway on the LON to permit communication between the CPU and other external LON devices.

Using the LONWORKS® modules, the SmartRelay CPU can read the current states of other LON devices and then use the logic functions and timers to join them together. LON signals can combine with the SmartRelay's inputs and outputs, and the LONWORKS® module will transmit every change of output through the LON.

This decentralized controller function allows for setting or changing parameters without the need for a programming device.

The LONWORKS® module can be configured in a system with up to 16 digital inputs, 12 digital outputs and 8 analog inputs. LONWORKS® is a network control system primarily used in such applications as buildings, factories, transportation, elevators and HVAC. LONWORKS® can also communicate with various low-level sensors and actuators.
