Carling Technologies is pleased to introduce it latest development in digital switching and multiplexed technology: the Carling Technologies, Electronic Control System (ECS) Generation III.
The ECS system is primarily designed to control electrical accessories in boats. Unlike conventional electromechanical systems, the ECS provides the boat and thus the boat owner with more advanced systems intelligence through its programming capabilities. As the vessel becomes "smarter", so too does the boat operator and this leads to an increased level of comfort and safety-especially for the first time boater. Key programming capabilities simplify the many aspects of safe boat operation on which one must focus and ultimately address:
- Low voltage detection--system detects battery drain and alerts operator.
- Battery drain protection--system selectively shuts down low priority electronics (as defined by the operator), preserving remaining power for key or critical functions (bilge, blower, nav/anchor lights)
- Multiple functions per button--single button control for advance lighting sequences (nav/anchor)
- Intermittent and timing functions--allows manual or automatic operation for bilge, blower or lighting
- Lock out feature--prevents dual or simultaneous operation of dual controls (up/down for windlass or hatch)
- Cloned functions--allows ease of operation from multiple stations (flybridge). For example, one can turn cabin lights on from the panel and off from within the cabin.
Generation III boasts contoured, elastomeric four and eight button switch pods complete with laser etched, backlit icons or text and dependent LEDs to indicate an implement is in function. The aesthetically appealing pods are sealed against the environment and designed for ease of integration into any panel design. The electronic control processor--the heart of the ECS system--incorporates thermal circuit protection, dual sealed Deustch connectors, and master override switches to bypass the systems'electronics without bypassing the unit's circuit protection.
