New High Capacity 300A EV Relay Achieves High-Voltage 400V DC Cutoff

New Providence, New Jersey: Panasonic Electric Works (formerly Aromat Corporation), introduces a 300A compact power relay with encapsulated contacts. 400V DC high voltage switching cutoff has been achieved thanks to hermetically sealed construction and magnetic arc motion through use of a permanent magnet. Typical applications for this 1 Form A relay include fuel-cell, electric and hybrid vehicles, UPS, automatic guided vehicles, elevators, construction machinery, inverter control and solar power generation systems

Advantages of the 300A EV relay include:

  • Small size and light weight (25% of the size of conventional contactors).
  • No arc space is required (the arc is not exposed to the outside).
  • Reduced fire hazard.
  • High contact reliability (the contact is hermetically sealed with hydrogen to maintain stable contact resistance).
  • Low operating noise, even when breaking large currents.
